INVICTUS- William Ernest Henley

INVICTUS. by William Ernest Henley

Out of the night that covers me,
Black as the pit from pole to pole,
I thank whatever gods may be
agradezco a los dioses, sean quienes sean,
For my unconquerable soul.
por mi alma indomable.

In the fell clutch of circumstance
En las garras de las circunstancias
I have not winced nor cried aloud.
no he gemido ni he llorado.
Under the bludgeonings of chance
Bajo los golpes del azar,
My head is bloody, but unbowed.
mi cabeza está ensangrentada, pero erguida.

Beyond this place of wrath and tears
Looms but the Horror of the shade,
se vislumbra el horror de la sombra,
And yet the menace of the years
Finds, and shall find, me unafraid.
me encuentra, y me encontrará, sin miedo.

It matters not how strait the gate,
No importa cuán estrecha sea la puerta,
How charged with punishments the scroll,
I am the master of my fate:
soy el amo de mi destino:
I am the captain of my soul.
soy el capitán de mi alma.
